With the doctor dead, no more American supermen will be forthcoming, and Steve quickly becomes a mere U.S. war drive propaganda tool called "Captain America." His role is useful, if undignified, but he soldiers on with it dutifully till hearing of his best friend's unit's capture, for which he promptly heads out to rescue them. During this rescue, he meets the diabolical Schmidt, and the two become each other's arch nemesis Director - Joe Johnston

I thought to myself, that the casting of Tommy Lee Jones as a colonel is right on the money. Hugo Weaving as usually, a villain is a 'safe investment.
But, was it the Captain America that we wanted it to be? The answer, sadly is no. Sure, it's an OK summer movie, but nothing more. This movie does not exploit enough the potential of Captain America, and his unique background, that occurs during WWII. This movie feels like it's devoid of any true effort to make it a good one, and speaking generally, it is also the same case regarding any recent Marvel movie, except Iron Man, which was a good summer movie.
The performance of the actors is solid. Chris Evans fits well to the protagonist.
The usage of some futuristic armaments in this film kinda ruins it. OK, so it's a film about a super hero, but still.
Anyway, it was nice to see how everything connects to the other Marvel films, like Howard Stark and so forth.
So, in conclusion, i think that Marvel should make some effort next time the make a movie, because this films really underestimate the audience.
But I'm sure that 'The Avengers' will be a whole lot better.
